Nancy Pelosi

“In the last twenty years or so, some people have been insecure about whether the American dream is alive and well. We want to remove all doubt in anyone’s mind. It is alive, it is well, and it is well rooted.”

Elected to Congress in 1987 from California’s Eighth District, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi became the first female speaker of the House of Representatives in 2007. She now serves as the Democratic leader of the House. As a congressional leader, Pelosi has worked for campaign finance reform and to establish public-private partnerships.
