Martin Dempsey

“When I got to West Point, I went to an upper class cadet in a red sash and said, ‘I’m new cadet Dempsey, reporting.’ He said, ‘Dempsey, you probably had a good high school career, didn’t you?’ I said, ‘Yes, sir, pretty good.’ He said, ‘Well, you’re not going to make it here.’ I thought, ‘Yes, I am,’ and they had me.”

General Martin E. Dempsey, USA is chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A thirty-year veteran of the US Army, he has proven himself in war and peace. He is dedicated to cultivating a joint US military force that thinks, communicates, and adapts in its service to the nation.
