Haley Barbour

“So many of the members don’t live here, particularly on the House side. They go home every week, and their families aren’t here. They don’t have any kind of social connection with other members of Congress. That’s a problem. It’s easier to figure out how to find common ground, or you’re certainly more willing to try, with people you like.”

The former governor of Mississippi, Haley Reeves Barbour has been involved with the Republican Party since his youth. During his tenure as chairman of the Republican National Committee, Republicans gained control of Congress for the first time in forty years. He actively seeks to find ways to work with those from other parties.
